Yehoshua Höschel

Yehoshua Höschel ben Joseph (born around 1578 in Vilnius ; died on August 16, 1648 in Krakow ) was a Talmudist .

Life

Yehoshua Höschel was born in Vilnius . The year of birth is unknown. He went to Vladimir to R. Samuel ben Phoebus and to Lemberg to Rabbi Jehoschua Falk . Yehoshua Höschel became rabbi in Grodno , then in Przemyśl and in 1639 in Lemberg . In 1640 he became head of the yeshiva in Krakow , where he exerted a great influence on students such as Shabbatai ha-Kohen . He died in 1648.
