Jemappes is a former village and since 1976 a district of Mons in the Belgian province of Hainaut , on the Haine and the Brussels - Vale railway line with 11,322 inhabitants.
The Battle of Jemappes took place here on November 6th, 1792 . After the battle in 1795, the newly formed department was named Jemappes .
