Jennifer Britnell

Jennifer Joan Britnell (* 1943 in London ; † 2011 in Durham ) was a British Romance and French scholar .

Life

Jennifer Britnell grew up in London and studied French at University College with Brian Woledge and Michael Screech . She received her PhD from the latter with the thesis Jean Bouchet , (Edinburgh, Edinburgh University Press for the University of Durham, 1986). She taught French at Durham University from 1966 to 2004 . The volume Opuscules du traverseur des voyes perilleuses nouvellement par luy reveuz amendez et corrigez was included in the complete edition of Jean Bouchet's works, which is currently being published. Epistre de Justice a l'instruction et honneur des ministres d'icelle. Le chappelet des Princes. Ballades morales. Deploration de l'eglise excitant les princes à la paix (Poitiers, Jaques Bouchet, 1525). Jennifer Britnell was married to the historian Richard Britnell (1944-2013).
