Jennifer Heß (born October 5, 1975 ) is a German archer in disabled sports .

Life

Jennifer Hess is married and has three children. In her youth, she was a multiple national swimmer in Schleswig-Holstein and a participant in German championships. Since a riding accident in April 2008, she has been physically disabled due to contusio spinalis (spinal cord contusion ). Looking for an active sporting occupation, she began archery in 2009.

Sporting successes

Jennifer Heß starts in class ARW2 (wheelchair-dependent athletes with full functionality of the arms) of the international classification for archers with a physical disability. She shoots an Olympic recurve bow . In 2010 she played her first tournaments and championships, in 2011 she won the international FITA star tournament in Delmenhorst . Her greatest successes so far are multiple national victories at the championships of the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) indoors and outdoors (2012, 2013, 2014, 2016), internationally 7th place at the world championship of handicapped archers (Para-World Championship) in Donaueschingen 2015, winning the gold medal in the mixed team of two (Recurve Mixed Team) at the Para world ranking tournament in Nove Mesto / CZ 2014 and the silver medal in the Recurve Mixed Team at the Para European Championship in Nottwil / CH 2014. In August 2016 she was 8th in the world rankings (Para Women Recurve). She holds the German records in the DBS indoors and outdoors. She took part in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio , where she finished 17th in singles and 9th in mixed.
