Jens Flatau

Jens Flatau (* 1972 ) is a German sports scientist and university professor .

Life

Flatau studied sports science, sports medicine and psychology at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe-University in Frankfurt am Main and obtained his Magister Artium in 2003 . From 2005 to 2012 Flatau worked as a research assistant at the Sports Science Institute of Saarland University and completed his doctoral thesis during this time (2007).

In 2012 Flatau took up a junior professorship for sports economics and sports sociology at the Institute for Sports Science at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and in August 2018 he became a full professor in the same subject and at the same university.

Flatau's research focuses on sports development planning, voluntary work, top-class sports organization, the development of sports clubs and the dual careers of top athletes.
