Jens Guth (born August 12, 1966 in Worms ) is a German politician ( SPD ), member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate since 2006 and deputy chairman of the SPD state parliament group since 2016.

Life

After completing secondary school in 1983, Guth completed an apprenticeship as a surveying technician . From 1986 to 1987 the state examination takes place. In 1998 he completed an evening course in technical business administration. Professionally, he worked for an engineering office and until 2006 for regional energy suppliers in Darmstadt and Worms, most recently as a department head.

Guth is married and has three children.

In 1985 Guth joined the SPD. Since 2006 he has been chairman of the SPD Worms. From 2013 to 2016 he was General Secretary of the Rhineland-Palatinate SPD .

Since 1999 he has been a member of the city ​​council of Worms. From 2006 until his appointment as general secretary of the state party in 2013, he was chairman of the Worms city council group.

In the 2006 state elections , he was directly elected to the state parliament in the Worms constituency. He was able to successfully defend the direct mandate in the state elections 2011 and 2016 state elections . In May 2016, he was elected deputy chairman of the parliamentary group. In the state parliament he is a member of the committee for home affairs, sport and regional planning, the committee for social affairs and labor and the interim committee.
