Jens Meilleur (born January 11, 1993 in Marquette , Manitoba ) is a former ice hockey player who has Canadian and German citizenship. In total, he spent almost five seasons with the Kassel Huskies in the DEL2 .
career
Meilleur played as a youth for the Winnipeg Hawks in the Winnipeg AAA League and then for the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. In late December 2009 / early January 2010, he took part with the Canadian selection at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Timmins , Ontario . Between 2010 and 2014 he completed 227 games for the WHL club Brandon Wheat Kings .
From 2014 Meilleur played for the German second division club Kassel Huskies . In the 2015/16 season he won the DEL2 championship title with the Huskies and shortly afterwards signed a two-year contract with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). In November 2016, he asked for the contract to be terminated in Nuremberg, and the association complied with this request. The next day the Kassel Huskies announced his return.
In 2019 he ended his career.
Personal
Meilleur grew up in the town of Elie in the province of Manitoba , he has German grandparents. In 2013 he received German citizenship.
His younger sister Meike plays ice hockey at Penn State University . His older brothers Mats and Lars are also ice hockey players.
