Jerónimo Méndez Arancibia (* 1887 ; † 1959 ) was a Chilean politician . For half a year in the winter of 1941/1942 he led the government of Chile as the incumbent President.

Méndez belonged to the Radical Party and was Minister of the Interior in the last cabinet of President Pedro Aguirre Cerda . When he fell ill with tuberculosis in the autumn of 1941 , two weeks before his death, he appointed Méndez as vice-president and on November 25, 1941, gave him power of attorney. Méndez administered the country temporarily for half a year until he handed over the presidency to the elected new president Juan Antonio Ríos Morales on April 2, 1942 .
