Jeremy Findlay

Jeremy Findlay (* 1971 in Toronto ) is a Canadian cellist.

Findley had his first cello lessons from his father William Findlay at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and studied with Daniel Domb at the University of Toronto until 1992 . As a scholarship holder of the Canada Council and the Ontario Arts Council , he continued his training with Josef Chuchro at the Prague Conservatory and studied chamber music with Sándor Végh at the European Mozart Foundation . Finally, he attended master classes from Boris Pergamenschikow and Yo-Yo Ma .

Findlay has appeared as a soloist with many well-known symphony orchestras in Europe, Asia, North and South America, as well as on the radio, and has taken part in festivals in Aix-en-Province, Cracow and Villach, among others. In 2009 he gave the world premiere of the concert for cello and chamber orchestra by Jiři Gemrot , which was dedicated to him, in 2012 he recorded his Lamento for cello and string orchestra , which was also dedicated to him, and in 2014 the cello concerto. With the pianist Per Rundberg he recorded works by Ludwig van Beethoven , Bohuslav Martinů and Gemrot. As a chamber musician, he is a member of the Okoun Ensemble founded by Eduard Okoun and the Camerata Salzburg .
