Jeremy Thurlow

Jeremy Thurlow (* 1976 ) is a British composer .

Education

Thurlow graduated from the University of Cambridge . He received composition lessons from Alexander Goehr . He also spent a year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama , where he studied composition and musical theater, before obtaining his PhD from King's College London .

Oeuvre

His oeuvre consists of orchestral works, choir pieces, as well as compositions for solo singing and chamber music ensembles. Some of these works have been performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra , Matthew Schellhorn , the Fitzwilliam String Quartet , Rolf Hind , Sequitur , Endymion and the BBC Singers .

Awards

In 2007 he received the George Butterworth Award for Composition for his video opera A Sudden Cartography of Song , composed in collaboration with Alistair Appleton .

He is a fellow at Robinson College , University of Cambridge, where he teaches music and teaches composition.
