Jerome Johnson "Jerry" Richardson, Sr. (* 11. July 1936 in Spring Hope , North Carolina ) is a former American American football poker players and former owner of the NFL's Carolina Panthers . He played in the position of flanker and halfback .

Career

Jerry Richardson attended Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville. He then attended Wofford College. In the 1959 NFL Draft , he was selected by the Baltimore Colts in the thirteenth round. He played from 1959 to 1960 for the Baltimore Colts and won the NFL Championship Game with them . He was an official and owner of the NFL team Carolina Panthers from October 26, 1993 until he sold the team to David Tepper for about 2.3 billion US dollars in May 2018 . He is the only person inducted into the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame , North Carolina Business Hall of Fame , North Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame, and the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame .
