Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra

The Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra is an Israeli orchestra for early music . It was founded in 1989 by David Shemer, its conductor and harpsichordist. Andrew Parrott has been an honorary conductor since 2006 .

The Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra uses contemporary instruments. It mainly performs in Israel, but is regularly represented at festivals around the world. In Israel the orchestra is currently organizing two festivals itself; the "Bach in Jerusalem Festival" and the "Vocal Fantasy Festival". Artists Joshua Rifkin , Roberto Gini, Peter Harvey , Kati Debretzeni, Walter Reiter, Lina Tur Bonet , Alfredo Bernadini, Enrico Onofri and Keren Motseri have appeared as guests with the JBO.

David Shemer

The founder of the orchestra was a harpsichord and early music teacher at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Among other things, he recorded the Goldberg Variations by JS Bach .
