Jerzy Macula

Jerzy Makula (* 1952 in Ruda Śląska ) is a Polish glider pilot .

In 1985, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1999 and 2011 he won the glider aerobatic world championships, in 1995, 2001, 2003 and 2005 he became vice world champion. At the 2007 glider aerobatic world championship he was third, in 1997 he finished fifth. In addition, he became European sailplane aerobatic master in 1998 and 2004. In 1996, 2000 and 2006 he became vice European champion.

For his sporting success and his work to popularize aviation, he received the FAI Medal of the Century .

He is a member of the Rybnik Aeroclub . Currently he mostly flies the Solo Fox, a single-seat variant of the MDM-1 Fox, at competitions . Professionally, he flies the LOT as captain of the Boeing 767 .
