Jerzy Prokopiuk

Jerzy Prokopiuk (born June 5, 1931 in Warsaw ) is a Polish philosopher, gnostic, esoteric, anthroposophist and important translator of literature and philosophy. He was the first to translate works by Goethe , Schiller , Rudolf Steiner and Carl Gustav Jung into Polish , as well as works by around 80 other authors. He received the translation award of the German Poland Institute from Karl Dedecius . He writes essays on anthroposophy and world literature. In Polish culture, he particularly values romanticism (authors such as Adam Mickiewicz and Juliusz Słowacki and also those who are not so well known), is also a critic of Polish Catholicism. He wants anthroposophy to develop in Poland. He now lives in Warsaw. In Poland he is particularly well known among intellectuals and in Germany among anthroposophists. Prokopiuk was president of the Gnosis Club from 1991 to 1992 and 1999 to 2000 and has been its honorary president since 2001.
