Jesper Jensen (born October 30, 1977 in Aarhus , Denmark ) is a former Danish handball player . Jensen, who played for the Danish national team, was mostly used in the center of the back . Since the end of his career he has been working as a handball trainer.

Jesper Jensen started playing handball at HEI Skæring in a suburb of Aarhus. He later moved to Team Esbjerg , where he also made his debut in the Danish first division. In 1999 he moved on to the then master Skjern Håndbold . With the Jutlanders he won the Danish Supercup in 2001 and the EHF Challenge Cup in 2002 and 2003 . Jensen ended his career after the 2012/13 season. He then coached the Vejen EH women's team for one season . On July 1, 2014, he took over as coach of the men's team at Aalborg Håndbold . In March 2016 he was released from his duties. Since the 2017/18 season he has been working as a coach for the Danish women's first division team Esbjerg. Under his leadership, Esbjerg won the Danish championship in 2019 and 2020. Since March 2020 he has also trained the Danish women's national team .

Jesper Jensen made 120 international appearances for Denmark. At the European Championships in Norway in 2008 he was European Champion ; at the 2006 European Championships he won bronze as well as at the 2007 World Cup in Germany. He also took part in the 2008 Olympic Games with the Danish selection .

His sister Trine Nielsen also played handball professionally.
