A first step towards circumnavigating the world was a kayak adventure to Papua New Guinea that he took with his brother Bob. In December 1998 Jesse set sail with his sailing ship "Lionheart" from Melbourne / Australia to circumnavigate the world. He wrote a book about his circumnavigation with the title "Lionheart".
