Ralf-Bernhard Wartke

Ralf-Bernhard Wartke (born November 27, 1948 in Berlin ) is a German archaeologist from the Middle East .

Ralf-Bernhard Wartke studied Classical Archeology and Oriental Archeology at the Humboldt University in Berlin between 1967 and 1973 . Since 1975 he has been a research assistant at the Vorderasiatisches Museum in Berlin. Since 1987 he has been curator of the museum's archaeological collection. In 1984 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on " The metal objects from Toprakkale in the Vorderasiatisches Museum zu Berlin ".

Wartke is an internationally recognized expert in researching Urartus . In addition, Palmyric sculpture and technical and technological issues are his special areas of interest. He took part in excavations in Bulgaria , Syria and Iraq . Wartke is a father of three.
