Jesse R. Glover

Jesse Raymond Glover (born October 15, 1935 in Seattle , † June 27, 2012 ) was Bruce Lee's first student and assistant instructor. Glover met Bruce Lee in 1959 in Seattle, USA . Both attended Edison High School in Seattle. At the time, Glover was a successful judoka . Bruce Lee taught Glover Kung Fu , first privately, and later in Bruce Lee's first school, the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute in Chinatown Seattle. He later opened his own school and called his self-defense method "Non-Classical Gung Fu". Glover graduated from Psychology and lived in Seattle until his death. Glover died of cancer on June 27, 2012.

In his book "Bruce Lee - Between Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do", written in 1976, he reports on measurements of Lee's impact speed and bridging distance ("Closing the Gap") using an electric timer. Glover writes that Lee could hit a target about three feet away in about 0.05 seconds and cover the distance to a target five feet away in about 0.08 seconds. Glover's own times from about a meter away were between 0.11 and 0.18 seconds.
