Jessica Lorenz

Jessica Lorenz (born November 22, 1978 in Durango , Colorado ) is an American goalball player .

Lorenz, who has been blind from birth with glaucoma , started goalball in 1993 when she encountered it at Western Michigan University . In less than ten years she won a world title and several medals in the sport. In 2004 she won silver with the women's goalball team at the Paralympic Games in Athens . Four years later, in 2008 , she carried the Olympic torch when it was in San Francisco . At the following Paralympic Games, she won a gold medal with her team.

In addition to her athletic career, Lorenz works at the San Francisco LightHouse for the Blind .
