Jeux de l'Amitié 1963

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jeux de l'Amitié 1963 was a sporting event that was held in the Senegalese capital Dakar .

In 1960 the Jeux de la Communauté in Madagascar took place as a competition with France and its colonies as part of the Communauté française . After they had gained independence in 1960, the next editions were carried out under the new name and also included countries that had not been French colonies. The Jeux de l'Amitié 1961 took place in Abidjan (Ivory Coast).

2400 athletes took part in the Dakar Games, including, for the first time, African women in an international sports competition.
