Yevgeny Alexandrovich Vaganov ( Russian Евгений Александрович Ваганов ; English Eugene Vaganov * 10. October 1948 in Krasnoyarsk , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a suwjetischer and Russian biophysicist , ecologist and dendrologist and was from 2006 to 2017 Rector of Siberian Federal University Krasnoyarsk . Vaganov is a member of the United Russia party .
In 1981 he moved to the newly opened Institute of Biophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Krasnoyarsk .
Since 1988 Vaganov headed the Laboratory for Dendroclimatology on Sukatschow -Institut. In 1992 he became director of the Siberian International Center for Environmental Research in Boreal Forests. From 1994 to 2006 he headed the Sukachev Forest Institute (Russian Institut lessa imeni WN Sukatschowa SO RAN ). In 1997 he was elected an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
