The Jezioro Nyskie , also Jezioro Głębinowskie , Zbiornik Nysa ( Neiss Reservoir ) is located west of the city of Nysa ( Neisse ) in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland and is a reservoir of the Glatzer Neisse , which was completed in 1971. In addition to its purpose as flood protection and flow regulation for inland navigation on the Oder, this water reservoir has meanwhile become of great importance for the local recreation of the Nysa population and tourism.
Size and importance of the reservoir
The dam that dams the lake is two kilometers long and 20 meters high. The water area covers 2000 hectares with around 124 million cubic meters of water volume. Several settlements had to be relocated in order to be able to dam the lake. A hydropower plant produces electricity.
Together with the Otmuchów reservoir, the Nysa reservoir is a newly designated landscape protection area (Polish: Otmuchowsko-Nyski Obszar Krajobrazu Chronionego), in which many bird species have their habitat.
tourism
Today it is a popular destination for recreation and tourists. The lake with its sandy beaches is also called "Copacabana" in Polish. The area of the lake is 2077 hectares.
Lake Nysa is also popular with water sports enthusiasts and anglers. The Jezioro Otmuchowskie ( Lake Ottmachau ) is also nearby and offers similar conditions as the Jezioro Nyskie.
