Jiří Ruda

Jiří Ruda (born September 8, 1877 in Rozdělov , † January 28, 1955 in Kladno ), actually František Náprstek , was a Czech poet, writer, publicist, educator and teacher.

Names

Ruda's real name was František Náprstek. In addition to the most frequently used pseudonym Jiří Ruda, Náprstek also used the pseudonyms Martin Věžnar, Antonín Marek, Jan z Lubna, Josef Horáček and Skok. The National Library of the Czech Republic has it under the main keyword Jiří Ruda.

Life

After Ruda graduated as a teacher in Prague, he worked as a teacher at various elementary schools, including in Kladno, Rozdělov and Beroun. In 1919 he co-founded the Social Democrat-oriented Free Socialist School of Labor (Volná socialistická škola práce) in Kladno, with which he sought an educational reform, and was one of the first teachers there. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia , he worked 1918–1920 as secretary of the National Committee of the Kladno District and chairman of the District Administrative Commission in Kladno.

In addition to educational literature, Ruda wrote several collections of poems and prose pieces.
