KK Jiji Tsūshinsha ( Japanese 株式会社 時事 通信 社 , kabushiki kaisha Jiji Tsūshinsha ; English Jiji Press Ltd. ) is a Japanese news agency based in Chūō , Tokyo Prefecture . Jiji Tsūshin has around 1,000 employees and maintains 79 national and 28 foreign offices, including a correspondent's office in Frankfurt am Main. In addition to its Japanese services, it also offers an English language service.

In 1945 the occupation authorities ( SCAP / GHQ ) smashed the state Dōmei Tsūshinsha established in 1936 , creating the two major Japanese news agencies of the post-war period: Kyōdō Tsūshin and Jiji Tsūshin.
