Jim Holdaway

Jim Holdaway (* 1927 in London , † February 18, 1970 in England ) was an English comic artist who was best known as the illustrator of the comic strip Modesty Blaise .

Born in Barnes Common, London, Holdaway had to interrupt his training in 1945 because he was drafted as a soldier. He was discharged from the army three years later and was able to finish his art studies in 1951. Before he published his first comics in 1952, he worked as an illustrator. After he had contributed to various comic series, he took over in 1957 by Alfred Mazure to the Daily Mirror published daily comic strip Romeo Brown , the he continued up to the end of the year 1963rd Holdaway was best known for the Modesty Blaise strip , where he provided the drawings for the texts by Peter O'Donnell . He worked on Modesty Blaise from its inception in 1963 until his death from heart failure in February 1970.
