Jim Verraros

Jim Conrad Verraros (born February 8, 1983 in Crystal Lake , Illinois ) is an American singer and actor . He became known to a wider public since he was one of the ten finalists on the first season of the American TV show American Idol .

Life

As a child of deaf parents, Jim Verraros was fluent in sign language. Jim Verraros has Greek ancestors on his father's side and German, Irish, French, Dutch and English ancestors on his mother's side.

He says he's a fan of the Chicago Cubs , Chicago Bears , Chicago Blackhawks, and the Chicago Bulls .

As the first openly gay competitor for the American TV show American Idol, Verraros quickly became a favorite of the American gay press. The background to this is a controversy with the Fox Broadcasting Company in the summer of 2002, which forced him to remove gay-friendly comments from his homepage, which was sponsored by American Idol.

Career

Verraro's first album Rollercoaster (2005) featured several dance floor hits, including the Billboard Top 25 Hot Club / Dance Chart hit "You turn it on". "I want you" and "You're Getting Crazy" were both in the Top 30 of the Hot Dance Music / Club Party Charts. The album was produced and co-written by singer and songwriter Gabe Lopez . It also contained four pieces co-written by American Idol finalist Angela Peel.

As an actor, Verraros starred as the main character in the 2004 gay comedy Eating Out directed by Q. Allan Brocka. He also played a major role in the sequel Eating Out 2 .
