Jim Walsh (politician)

Jim Walsh is an Irish politician ( Fianna Fáil ) and a Senator in the Seanad Éireann since 1997 .

Walsh attended the Christian Brothers School in New Ross . From 1979 to 2003 he was a member of Wexford County Council and served as its chairman from 1992 to 1993.

In 1997, Walsh was first elected for the Fianna Fáil in the Seanad Éireann. He was re-elected in 2002 and 2007. In July 2010 he resigned from the Fianna Fáil together with John Hanafin and Labhrás Ó Murchú in protest against the government's Civil Partnership Bill . The three of them rejoined the party in November of the same year.

Walsh is married with three children, a son and two daughters; he lives in New Ross.
