New Ross ( Irish : Ros Mhic Thriúin ) is a town in County Wexford in the southeast of the Republic of Ireland .
The population of New Ross was determined in the 2016 Census with 8040 people, making New Ross the third largest city in the county after Wexford and Enniscorthy .
New Ross is on the River Barrow ; the bridge over the river is named after Michael O'Hanrahan , a New Ross born freedom fighter who was executed after the 1916 Easter Rising .
