Jimmy Barry

Jimmy Barry (born March 7, 1870 in Chicago , USA ; † April 4, 1943 ) was an American boxer of Irish descent in the bantamweight division .

Professional career

He started his career successfully in 1891. He won his first 11 fights by classic knockout. On September 15, 1894, he boxed against the Canadian George Dixon for the universal world championship and won by knockout. He held this title until his resignation in 1899.

Jimmy Barry went undefeated in his career. His record was 69 fights, 59 wins (40 by knockout) with 10 draws. In 2000 he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame .
