Jimmy and Johnny (Fautheree) was an American country and rockabilly duo who enjoyed some success with their honky-tonk and rockabilly titles in the 1950s . Jimmy and Johnny are not to be confused with the Louisiana country duo Jim and Johnny .

Career

Her career began on the KWKH Louisiana Hayride radio show , where she was soon popular guests. They were also members of the KRLD Big D Jamboree . In 1951, Capitol Records , with which the two had recently got a record deal, recorded their first two records in the Hayride studio, including Don't Forget To Remember , a piece written by Fautheree. In the next few years the duo released records regularly. Her biggest hit was If You Don't Somebody Else Will , which reached number four on the Billboard charts in 1954 .

Johnny was later replaced by Jimmy's brother Lynn Fautheree, but the name of the duo was not changed as the producers feared a career slump. With the entry of Lynn, the style of the duo changed towards rockabilly; Titles like Sweet Love On My Mind , What'cha Doin 'To Me or Sweet Singing Daddy were recorded. Sweet Love On My Mind was a Wayne Walker song that was recorded by Johnny Burnette's Rock'n'Roll Trio a few months before Jimmy and Johnny . Jimmy and Lynn played at the same time in the backing band Faron Youngs , the Deputies, so they sometimes got the opportunity to perform in the Grand Ole Opry themselves when Young was unable to attend . In addition, they often played in the opening act of Elvis Presley at the Louisiana Hayride , which had a positive influence on their popularity.

In the late 1950s, Johnny Mathis rejoined the duo. Together with Jimmy Lee he released records again, the last was released in 1961. However, they did not make any joint appearances. In 1995 Jimmy and Johnny tried a comeback with the original line-up. They recorded the gospel album It Won't Be Much Longer in 1995 , which was released by TIMA Records in 2000. That was the first and last time in 35 years that Fautheree and Mathis won titles again.
