The Jin Jiang ( Chinese 晋江 , Pinyin Jìn Jiāng , W.-G. Chin Chiang - "Jin River") is a river in the southeast Chinese province of Fujian . It rises in the central mountain range of Fujian ( Boping Mountain in the Daiyun Mountains ) and then flows through the places Yongchun , Anxi , Nan'an , Licheng and the city of Jinjiang . At Quanzhou it flows into the East China Sea ( Formosa Strait ).
The Jin Jiang has a length of 182 kilometers and an area of influence of 5629 square kilometers. Besides the Dong Xi, it only has a few short tributaries.
The runoff in the regions that the Jin Jiang drains is 1573 millimeters per year, but this with large seasonal fluctuations. At the measuring point near Shilong , an annual average of 163 cubic meters of water flowed off per second. The highest value to date was determined in 1961 with 267 cubic meters per second, the lowest value with 101 cubic meters per second in 1954. Three quarters of the water flows away in the spring and summer months. In June, 20.9% of the total annual volume flows through the measuring point, in December, however, 2.0%.
