Jinchang (Suzhou)

Jinchang ( Chinese  金阊区 , Pinyin Jīnchāng Qū ) was a municipality in the east of the People's Republic of China . It belonged to the administrative area of ​​the Suzhou Prefecture City in Jiangsu Province . It had an area of ​​35.7 km² and had 370,000 inhabitants (2004). It was the seat of the city government and city center of Suzhou. In August 2012 it was merged with two other Suzhou districts to form a new Gusu (姑苏 区) district.
