Jin'en Nagase ( Japanese 長勢 甚 遠 , Nagase Jin'en ; born October 3, 1943 in Toyama , Toyama Prefecture ) is a former Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), MP in the Shūgiin for the 1st constituency of Toyama and former Justice Minister . Within the LDP he belonged to the Machimura faction .

Nagase studied law at the University of Tokyo . After graduating in 1966, he became a civil servant in the Ministry of Labor. In 1988 he left the ministry and successfully ran for the Shūgiin in 1990. After several committee positions, a short time as deputy LDP general secretary and various state secretary posts, Prime Minister Shinzō Abe appointed him to his cabinet as minister of justice in 2006 .

Ten people sentenced to death were hanged during Nagase's 11-month tenure as Justice Minister, making him the Justice Minister with the most executions in 20 years. He interpreted the law passed by Kokkai to lower the minimum age for juvenile prison sentences to "around 12" as downwardly open to interpretation. Nagase had several political refugees deported in publicly discussed and disputed cases. At the same time, he advocated a fundamental reform of the Japanese guest worker program ( 外国人 研修 制度 , literally “foreigner training system”), according to which access for foreign workers should be liberalized but limited in time; In August 2007, it was announced that his office had received a donation of 500,000 yen in 2006 from an organization advocating cheap foreign labor.

When the cabinet reshuffle in August 2007, Nagase was replaced by Kunio Hatoyama . In the Shūgiin election in 2009 , he lost his constituency to the Democrat Muneaki Murai for the first time and was only re-elected through the Hokuriku-Shin'etsu proportional representation.

To Shugiin election 2012 candidate Nagase no more and withdrew from politics.
