Life

There are many different versions of the time of Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha's birth and his training. It is more or less certain that it was probably around 540 BC. Was born in Rajagriha, today's Rajgir in the south of Bihar . According to some traditions, he was said to have been the son of King Bimbisara . He is said to have received medical training in Taxila from Atreya, a descendant of Atri .

During the Buddha's lifetime , Bhacha is said to have been an important doctor in the Kingdom of Magadha (which is in today's India ) and to have known and treated the Buddha personally. It is repeatedly mentioned in the Tipitaka , an important collection of Buddhist scriptures, as well as in the Vinayapitaka .

Buddha is said to have sent Bhaccha together with Vajradhara to the Himalayas to get medicinal ingredients. After his return, Buddha is said to have cured him of his pride by explaining ingredients to him that he had not known before. As a result, Bhacca is said to have proclaimed the Four Noble Truths of Theravada in connection with his views:

In Thai medicine, Baccha still plays a major role as the founder figure. His teaching divides the human body from bottom to top into three areas: body, energy and soul.
