Jo Bauer

Joachim "Jo" Bauer (born July 21, 1961 ) is a German motorsport official and the technical delegate of the FIA for Formula 1 races.

His job essentially consists of ensuring - together with assistants from the FIA ​​and helpers from the races taking place on site - that all vehicles comply with the rules (formulas) established by the FIA.

He took over the position in 1997 from Charlie Whiting , who was Race Director of the FIA ​​until 2019.

Bauer is an automotive engineer who studied at RWTH Aachen University .

After he achieved his bachelor's degree , he obtained his master's degree while working at FEV GmbH , also based in Aachen .
