Jo Bohnsack (* 1960 on Sylt ) is a German blues and boogie-woogie pianist .

Live and act

Bohnsack gave his first concerts in 1978. Then he majored in classical piano at the Hamburg University of Music ; He was the first in Germany to write his thesis on the genesis of boogie-woogie in the USA.

1994 Bohnsack founded the Hamburg Boogie Connection with Axel Zwingenberger , Vince Weber and Joja Wendt . He has given international concerts with champion Jack Dupree . He later toured with BB King . He also jammed with Roy Hargrove , Albert King , Buddy Guy and Michel Petrucciani . Bohnsack has made numerous television appearances at home and abroad. Concert tours also took him to Mexico and Indonesia; he also played at the Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans .

Prizes and awards

The North Sea Jazz Festival honored Bohnsack as a "Piano Giant". In 2005 he was accepted into the Olympus of Steinway artists.
