Jo no kata

Jo no kata ( Japanese 序 の 型 ) is a karate kata developed by Tetsuhiko Asai and means roughly the initial form . It is attributed to the Shōtōkan .

Jo no kata is mainly intended for beginner training. It is based on the Embusen of the Kata Taikyoku Shodan or Heian Shodan . Deviating from these, it contains the techniques Soto-uke , Kakiwake-gedan-gamae, Mae-geri and Tate-shuto-uke in Kiba-Dachi .

This kata is required in the JKS (Japan Karate Shotorenmei) in the 9th and 8th Kyu exams.
