Joachim Biesenthal

Joachim Heinrich Biesenthal (* 1800 in Lobsens , Posen ; † 1886 in Berlin ) originally Raphael Hirsch , also "Johann Heinrich B." or "Carl Ignaz Corvé" was a German Protestant pastor of Polish-Jewish origin who was active in the Prussian mission from 1838 to 1844 and from 1844 in the British mission to the Jews .

Life

Raphael Hirsch originally wanted to become a rabbi, but then began studying at Berlin University in 1827, during which time he began to deal with Christian theology. In 1835 he finished his studies, in 1838 he converted to Christianity and became active in the Berlin Jewish Mission . From 1844 he joined the British " London Jews Society " (LJS).

Biesenthal died in Berlin in 1886.
