Joachim Dingel
Joachim Dingel (born February 7, 1938 in Gotha ) is a German classical philologist .
Joachim Limodore studied at the University of Tübingen , where he in 1965 with the thesis The prop in Greek tragedy doctorate was (published 1967). He then worked in Tübingen as a research assistant with a teaching position, after his habilitation (1972) as a private lecturer . In 1991 he was appointed university professor. In 1992 he moved to the University of Hamburg , where he worked until his retirement (2003).
His main research interests were Roman poetry and literary theory. Dingel is regarded as a distinguished Seneca and Quintilian connoisseur. He published, among other things, a book entitled Scholastica materia on Quintilian (1988), a commentary on the 9th book by Virgil's Aeneis (1997), an annotated bilingual edition of Seneca's poems (Heidelberg 2007) and the book The relative dating of Seneca's tragedies (2009).
