Joachim Heise

Joachim Heise (* 1946 ) is a German historian specializing in GDR history and director of the Berlin Institute for Comparative State-Church Research .

Life

Heise studied history and German at the Potsdam University of Education. He then worked as a graduate teacher. 1979-82 he received a scheduled academic traineeship in the research area "History of Alliance Policy" at the Institute for the History of the German Labor Movement of the Academy for Social Sciences at the Central Committee of the SED .

Heise was in 1980 a member of the Institute party leadership and deputy SED - party secretary . In 1983 he received his doctorate A on the history of the church policy of the SED. From 1983 to 1986 he was senior scientific assistant and head of the rectorate department for training and further education in the four-person rectorate of the Academy for Social Sciences at the SED Central Committee. In 1986, the Promotion B . Between 1986 and 1990 he was a lecturer at the Institute for the History of the German Labor Movement. In 1993 he was co-founder and until 2007 deputy director of the institute for comparative state-church research in Berlin, which is funded with public funds . Heise has been the head of the institute with equal rights since 2007.

Heise is the author and editor of publications on GDR history.
