Joachim-Jungius Society of Sciences e. V. was a science academy in Hamburg .

The society named after Joachim Jungius was founded on May 9, 1947 and dissolved in 2006 when the Academy of Sciences was founded in Hamburg . The Jungius Society had the right to propose half of the academy's founding members. Upon dissolution, the assets of the Jungius Society were transferred to the Joachim Jungius Foundation of Science in Hamburg , which was established in 2007 .

The society held, among other things, public academy lectures, symposia and meetings as well as so-called “scientific meetings” of its members and supervised (often multi-year) work projects. Occasionally it also awarded scholarships and grants for stays abroad.

The Society's awards were the Joachim Jungius Medal , the Johann Albert Fabricius Medal and the Joachim Jungius Prize . At her suggestion, the sponsorship awards of the “Hamburg Foundation for Science, Development and Culture Helmut and Hannelore Greve ” were awarded on the occasion of her annual celebration .
