Joachim Rathke (actor)
Joachim Rathke (born July 18, 1962 in Cameroon ) is an Austrian actor and director.
Life
The son of a Protestant pastor spent the first ten years of his life in Cameroon, then the family moved to Austria, first to Carinthia and later to Upper Austria.
He received his training as an actor at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz. From 1983 he was engaged for four years at Theater 58 in Zurich , and in 1986 he returned to Linz. Rathke has been on stage at the Landestheater Linz since 1990 .
From 1992 he began to work more and more as a director when he began to play the "Theater am Grillparzerhof" in Kirchberg ob der Donau . The successful summer theater later moved to the barn of Wilhering Abbey and adopted the name theaterSPECTACEL . Among other things, he staged here the Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht and William Shakespeare's Pericles .
Joachim Rathke is a member of the regional cultural advisory board and also works as a lecturer at the Bruckner University in Linz.
Awards
- 1998 Stage Art Prize of the State of Upper Austria together with Henry Mason for the summer theater in a barn of Wilhering Abbey
- 2012 Culture Medal of the State of Upper Austria
