Joachim Rohlfes
Joachim Rohlfes (born December 11, 1929 in Stendal ) is a German history teacher and emeritus professor of history and its didactics at Bielefeld University .
Rohlfes was born as the son of the Chief Agriculture Councilor Otto Rohlfes and was baptized as a Protestant. He studied history, German and Latin in Munich and Göttingen. His Göttingen dissertation from 1955 was entitled "State, Nation, Reich in the Concept of the German Evangelical Church in the Age of German Unification (1848−1871)" . After working as a teacher at the Old School in Oldenburg and Fachleiter he became in 1968 professor at the University of Education in Bielefeld and at the University of Bielefeld . In 1971 Rohlfes wrote the outlines of a didactics of history and in 1986 the work History and its Didactics , which laid the foundations for the subject for decades.
Rohlfes was always very close to school lessons and, from a pragmatic position, remained suspicious of theoretical constructions of critical history didactics, for example by Klaus Bergmann or Annette Kuhn .
Rohlfes was co-author of the school history book Geschichte und Geschehen ( Ernst Klett Verlag ), co-editor of the series Political World Studies (Ernst Klett Verlag) and from 1976 to 2009 co-editor of the journal History in Science and Education .
