Joachim Rudolph (chemist)

Joachim Rudolph (* 1936 in Berlin ; † March 6, 1993 ) was a German chemist , editor and writer . He was editor-in-chief of the journals News from Chemistry, Technology and Laboratory and Chemistry in Our Time . As a book author, he wrote Knaur's book on modern chemistry .

education and profession

Rudolph first studied German and later chemistry in Munich. He received his doctorate in chemistry from the Technical University of Munich in 1964. In 1964 he became editor-in-chief for the journal Nachrichten aus Chemie und Technik , later renamed to Nachrichten aus Chemie, Technik und Laboratorium . From 1967 he was also editor-in-chief of the magazine Chemie in our time . These two journals were the first major journals for chemistry students between 1970 and 1992.

Rudolph gave an understandable introduction to chemistry in his book "Knaur's Book of Modern Chemistry". In the last pages of his book, he also very emphatically addresses very complicated problems in science, which are highly explosive in the present.

Rudolph also knew how to bring sociopolitical discussions from chemistry to the public through television series.
