Joachim Weckmann (* 1953 in Plettenberg ) is the owner and one of the managing directors of Märkisches Landbrot GmbH in Berlin-Neukölln .

Life

In 1975 Weckmann moved to West Berlin and began with his circle of friends to establish the organic food trade there . In 1977 he co-founded the first organic bakery in Berlin. In 1981 he bought the Märkisches Landbrot GmbH delivery bakery and converted it into an organic bakery. The Demeter bread bakery was an official project of the city of Berlin for Expo 2000 . In 2003 Joachim Weckmann was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services as a pioneer in the organic processing industry . In 2007 Joachim Weckmann received the innovation award for organic food processing for his work. Joachim Weckmann is one of the initiators of the Bio-Brotbox initiative, which was awarded the UN World Decade of Education for Sustainable Development project in 2007 and a Landmark in the Land of Ideas in 2012.
