Joacim Esbjörs (born July 4, 1970 in Gothenburg ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player .

Career

Joacim Esbjörs began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Västra Frölunda HC , for whose professional team he made his debut in the then second-rate Division 1 in the 1988/89 season . With Frölunda, he immediately rose to the Elitserien , in which the defender was a regular for the next nine years. The 1998/99 season was spent by the 1992 world champion at Ässät Pori from the Finnish SM-liiga . He then returned to his Swedish homeland, where he spent two more seasons with HV71 in the Elitserien, before ending his career at the age of 31.

International

For Sweden , Esbjörs took part in the junior division of the U18 European Junior Championship in 1988 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 1990 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 1992 World Cup , where he and his team won the gold medal.
