Joanne Samuel (born August 5, 1957 in Camperdown , New South Wales ) is an Australian actress .

Life

Joanne Samuel first appeared on television in 1973, that year she got guest roles on the series Matlock Police and Certain Women .

In 1979 she got the lead role in the film Mad Max with Mel Gibson by accident . The actress, who was initially supposed to play the role of Jessie Rockatansky , had a car accident shortly before filming began and was then replaced at short notice by Joanne Samuel.

In the 1980s, Samuel had guest roles in almost every major Australian soap opera, such as Ratbags and the hit sitcom Hey Dad! .
