Jobst is a village in the Bad Blumau municipality in Styria.

Jobst lies between Altenmarkt and Lindegg and is surrounded by forest all around. The Hühnerbach flows through the village and flows into the Feistritz at Fürstenfeld .

history

The village, which was called Steinbach in the Middle Ages and was renamed Steinbach bei St.Jobst in 1580 , was already settled in pre-Roman times, as indicated by several burial mounds. Likewise, around 600 AD, Slavs are said to have settled down. The present village was not built until the 13th century. The place name points to St. Jodok , also known locally as Jost or Jobst. The local chapel built in the 15th century is dedicated to him. In 1741 the Waltersdorfer pastor Johann Christoph Dantscher had a new church built, the St. Anna Church . Until the abolition of the manorial lordship, Jobst and Lindegg belonged to Obermayerhofen . Jobst then belonged to the municipality of Lindegg, which was incorporated into the larger municipality of Blumau in 1968.
