Jobst Heinrich Lessen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jobst Heinrich Lessen , around 1700, was a Goslar- based carver who created numerous altars, pulpits and pews in Goslar churches and in the northern Harz foreland . The carving of the furnishings in the Lamspringe monastery church in the Hildesheim district can also be traced back to Jobst Heinrich Lessen. The pew shown here is marked by the inscription Algemeiner christlger stuhl as a place for the laity.

For a time he worked with his relative Heinrich Lessen the Elder. Their work shows influences from the golden age of the Netherlands , insofar as the ornaments created by them are mainly composed of flowers and fruits.
