Jochen Marly

Jochen Marly (born October 22, 1960 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German professor of law at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

academic career

From 1980 to 1990, Marly studied law and business administration at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. In 1986 he passed the first state examination in law. He then worked as a research assistant. It was founded in 1988 in Frankfurt am Main with the thesis "competitive process and kommunikatorisches process: foundations of a new civil procedure process design" Dr. jur. PhD. From 1987 to 1990 he did his legal clerkship at the Darmstadt Regional Court and completed his studies with the second state examination. In 1994 he completed his habilitation in Frankfurt am Main with the thesis "Copyright protection for computer software in the European Union" . In 1994/1995 he held a chair at the University of Cologne .

From 1995 to 2000 he was professor for civil law and civil procedural law at Heidelberg University . Since April 1, 2000 he has been professor for civil law, industrial property rights and copyright as well as information society law at the Technical University of Darmstadt. From 2014 to 2015 he was appointed as a judge at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main.

His main research interests are industrial property rights and copyright law, computer law and legal issues relating to new media.
